Our Mission

IOWinds Alliance is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization organized for the purpose of educating and inspiring young musicians learning wind and brass instruments throughout the state of Iowa.

The primary and foremost purpose of the organization shall be to provide educational opportunities, resources, and inspiration to students interested in performing these instruments. Our goal is to enhance musical skills, knowledge, and cultivate a lifelong passion for music.

Our Programs

  • WINDFEST

    Our annual festival, WINDFEST includes masterclasses, chamber coachings, Q&A, a parent session, and culminates in a final concert for 6-12th grade woodwind & brass students throughout Iowa.

  • Young Artist Competition

    Our annual Young Artist Competition is part of our WINDFEST and awards $6,000 in cash prizes to students in middle school and high school in Iowa.

  • Artist Outreach

    We provide guest artists for community concerts, school solo and ensemble judges, and masterclasses to support local band programs and to inspire students in their musical journey.

  • Scholarships

    We offer two $1,000 scholarships each year to financially support deserving Iowa wind and brass students demonstrating exceptional musical talent and dedication. These awards are generously sponsored by Hills Bank.
